Biography

Kendall has been a Code Official Since 1992 after completing several years in the Fire Protection and Mechanical Trades, from smaller firms to larger multinational firms such as; Dow Chemical, Dow Corning, and the Midland Nuclear Plant (MCV) as a licensed Mechanical Contractor during its conversion to natural gas, responsible for plant systems acceptance, systems testing and commissioning and engineering changes. 


Kendall is currently Executive Vice President of Michigan chapter of SFPE, longstanding President of the ICC Chapter of the Metropolitan Mechanical Inspectors Association, past President of the ICC Chapter of Mechanical Inspectors Association of Michigan, also participating in the ICC Code Development Process by attending ICC Fire Code Action Committee meetings, Building Code Action Committee meetings, ICC Code Hearings and sitting on various workgroups (Hazardous Materials, Indoor Cultivation and Extraction, Outdoor Storage of Hazardous Materials, Distilleries, Additive Manufacturing) of these committees. 


Kendall has been deeply involved in his peer groups education since 2001, teaches a 6.5 hour "Compliance with Fire and Building Codes" AIA accredited courses around the Midwestern US, for Half Moon Productions, also taught Mechanical and Fire Codes at the Community College level for four years.


Kendall currently is a Senior Code Specialist for Ino-Tek of Ray Township MI providing technical, educational support, both internally and externally to Engineering Firms, Architectural Firms, Fire Marshals, Fire Inspectors, and Building Departments. A sampling of groups that he has delivered programs to are the Saginaw Valley Chapter of ICC, Huron Valley Code Officials Association, SFPE Michigan Chapter, Huron Valley Code Officials, Plumbing Inspectors Association of Michigan, South Eastern Mechanical Inspectors Association, Western Michigan Mechanical Inspectors Association, Northern Michigan Plumbing and Mechanical Inspectors Association, Code Officials Conference of Michigan, Metro Detroit Fire Inspectors Society, and many others. Kendall is also recognized as a subject matter expert providing expert consulting, especially around hazardous materials use and storage.


Another area of involvement is providing widely accepted: Hazardous Materials Opinions and Reports as required by the Building and Fire Codes to assist in the rapid AHJ approval and acceptance of the use of hazardous materials within the work environment.
